Time for deconstruction ... this double block sits not very well under the triple block ....
And somehow the block itself thought the same .. broke ... I changed to two singleblocks though as in the Alert book. Triple Block was redone too then... Started choosing the final belaying points, Peterssens book is one reference for that besides the builds of Tony & Gregor.. A small detail for the cap. And the brace pendents are done. Next will be the footropes. cheers, Dirk

At the moment I am puzzling over the Truss pendants. Which yards were equipped with them.
Pretty sure the Cross Jack Yard was but what about the Spread and Topsail Yard? I would guess that at least the Spread Yard should have Truss pendants... any insight would be helpful and very much appreciated. Cross Jack Yard with Truss pendants. I am still unsure about the truss (and the footropes) but for the moment I decided to have a truss for the cross jack yard (maybe topsail too) and footropes for the cross jack and the topsail yard (here without stirrups). I just like to show these elements (and it was good practice for Syren too ;-)), even we don't know if this is historical correct. I'm the Captain :-P And the block for the traveller inhauler. cheers, Dirk

Finally I had to make a truss for every yard as otherwise I would have problems with my rig. I never glue my mast parts so I always can deconstruct things easy :-)
I made the sheave here for the inhauler. And add most of the running rig like brasses and bowlines. I made a bolster for the lines here: Gettin very crowded :-) And started the rig for the rudder. cheers, Dirk

Rudder done, had to repin it.
And in all its glory in the case :-) The list of To Do's is getting smaller. Mousing hooks ... That'S damn small ...hahaha ... :-P cheers, Dirk

I'm almost done with the rigging. Before I finally glue the knots it's a good time for you to check for flaws or if I miss something :-P Any hint will be appreciated :-)

I liked to do this little detail on the windlass...
Source: Allgemeines Wörterbuch der Marine, Röding, J.H., 1794, Tab: V. Fig.44) And I did :-) Another detail shot. It's 1:64 I'm satisfied with the outcome :-) Sherbourne had 6 stoppers on board, I wanted to show at least one (as I might just do one anchor rope) and the functionality (securing the rope). It was quite challenging to do this withe the rope already on board .. haha ... bad planning. cheers, Dirk

Today I started on the anchor stocks.
Finished the anchor stock, my silver solding skills are ... expandable ... hmpf. cheers, Dirk

Today silver soldering went better :-)
Did the boom crutches. Anchors (maybe) finished :-) Boom crutches ;-) cheers, Dirk |
