I finished the rudder today.

Decided to redo the rudder in pear, sharper contours imo, so redoing the pintles too.

Getting the position where to glue the gudgeons

A bit of micro rivet pimping ... couldn't resist Tongue

Right now the rudder get the first coat of white paint ... I hate white paint btw Big Grin

Rudder done. Interestingly I had to shortend the tiller to fit with the binnacle ... anyway Wink

More etched details on the bow. I redid part 278 as I don't like it flat there. I also used t micro rivets mainly so that this part is kinda pinned too, not only glued (don't trust the CA/Metal/Wood combination ...

Ok,with my painting art I am absolutley NOT happy ... wish the kit would (hint hin Daniel) include a mask for the green areas like for the name.

One more detail Wink

cheers,

Dirk

A little work break and time for some pimping Wink

First ... deconstruction. The hatch was to far aft and a strip is missing.

Better Smile

This is were a block will be attached. Kit wants just an eyebolt there, me wanted more Smile

Black color at the bow removed, macro is cruel sometimes .. haha ..

Something to secure the tiller Wink

The railing

Each railing is made of micro tube, a micro washer and a micro eyebolt. I love these parts as they are always useful!

Last but not least, the nameplates.

Painted and the scraped with a knife

Blackend

Glued

Done Smile

cheers,

Dirk

Finished the winch today.

So only some minor stuff and maybe one or two deconstructions (!!) are left before starting the rigg.

Okidoki it was time for deconstruction, nope, NOT the winch Big Grin

On the inner bulwarks there where some minor mistakes in case of 4 missing bollards (hope that's the right word).

And more to deconstruct Tongue

Now waiting for the paint and the parts will be glued in place Wink

cheers,

Dirk

After checking more pictures I decided a bit more deconstruction was needed.

This bollard is too small ...

And ... deconstruction ...

That's the way it should be

More updates for today ... haha ... the bollards are done and glued.

There had been some deconstruction earlier ... I'll show you now Smile

The Kit's cleats are fine for the aft but NOT near the main bollard.

So, they had been deconstructed ...

As they have a very unique rough style I tried to make them this way in brass. One to go though.

Both cleats are done, as usual pimped with micro rivets.

cheers,

Dirk

The kit includes two small boats, one for the sailing one for the motorized version. Both boats are models for themself! The sailing one is really tiny.

Even it is so small it is very robust because of the nice stable plywood. Planking is pear,

I like to use CA so Wink

Prefinished

Tip: to remove the laser char from very very small parts I use a pliers to hold and to stableize it.

Almost finished.

Some macros Smile

Compared to a needle ..

That was really fun to build. Tip: Sand down the pear planks to make them thinner that makes it easier to bend them.

A minor update. Boat is almost finished and perepared to be glued on deck.

I'll add one or two more details though.

cheers,

Dirk

The line of the white area was something bugging me too as it wasn't parallel to the keel ...

The whole procedure will take a while ...

Ok, repainting done ... actually it is a re re re repainting (one F**k up with paint destroying the underlying paint resulting in a moment of weakness like .. mmmm what could my tablesaw do with this little boat?, one with my damn thumb fingerprint (actually only me noticed it but ... iÍ noticed it ... hmpf ...) and and and.

At the moment I have NO idea how to make the green paint at the moment I'm thinking about painting paper cutting it exactly how it should and glue it on. Anyway after that problem is solved I might paint all with clear acryl (I am SO afraid abou that!!) and when the boat still exists I'll might try the lettering like on the Syren and Sherbourne with woodland scenic letters.

According to Dafi's pictures a little mod for the rudder.

cheers,

Dirk

Ok, one minor operation, the, at least, big scuppers.

Then Paint Part Whatever .. it's enough to know that this was a part I was afraid about ... the green paint ...

I used a mixture of Tamiya Masking Tape & Humbro Maskol. The pictures shows this pretty clear I guess.

And the result ... not that bad ... better the the first try Smile

So the last frightend challenge will be using clear paint for the whole hull ...

Damn damn damn, I f*****g hate paint & clearcoat catastrophics ... right top and bottom green decided to p**s me off ... I tested it as I know it was a critical combination ...hmpf ... guess I have to live with ...

Two impressions of the actual state of the hull ...

cheers,

Dirk

Time for an update. There are task I need to be in a special "no risk no fun"-mood. Today I was. So I put the callsign on the bow. Even Daniel send me new much better looking mask - thanks a lot for that, your support is super great!

I decided to go the "decal" way. It's not the perfect correct typography but the result is imo pleasing.

As a point is not part of the decals I had to made some Wink

Looking good I think.

Clear coat to secure the fragile decals.

Needs some polishing, to shiny atm hope I get this done ...

Also started on the bowsprit. Might be some more rvisions needed if satisfied Wink

So most of the hull stuff is made, next major parts will be the masts and else.

A little update. I'm right now working at the bowsprit/Bow Section.

There were a little de/reconstruction neccessary imo.

In my feeling the part was to tiny.

Need to adjust the angle of the bowsprit but overall it is looking good I think.

Ahh and I could "remove" the shiny gloss from the callsign Smile

cheers,

Dirk

The last days I added some more details to the hull.

Ringbolts

Bolts

Some protection

Added the internal block at the rudder to help to remove the rudder.

Bands for the windlass.

Today I made the 2 masts. They are made from pear. The dowels in the kit are excellent (!!) but a bit light for my taste and I don't wanna paint them.

Both masts standing Smile

cheers,

Dirk
